Elden T. Seta

Music Director

A graduate of Pearl City High School in Honolulu, HI, Seta attended the University of Hawaii Manoa on a full music scholarship.  After graduating with a secondary degree in education in 1987, Seta became the director for the then 15-year-old Moanalua High School Music Department.  Through his guidance, the music department grew from 2 bands, an orchestra, and a marching band to what it is today.  Seta has received numerous teaching awards over the years, most recently the 2003 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.

Rhona Barbosa

Associate Music Director

A graduate of Aiea High School, Ms. Barbosa attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Music Education. Before joining the MoHS family in the 1998-1999 school year, Ms. Barbosa taught band and orchestra at McKinley High School and band and ukulele at her alma mater. Ms. Barbosa is a member to some professional organizations, including her most recent election to the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA). In what little spare time she has, Ms. Barbosa enjoys spending time with family and friends, and going to the beach.

Erik Kubota

Associate Music Director

A graduate of Mililani High School, Mr.Kubota attended the University of Pacific in Stockton, California and in 2007, he received his bachelors degree in Music Education. Mr. Kubota also completed his master’s degree in Education Technology during the fall of 2011 through Michigan State University.  

Mr. Kubota is a percussionist and alumni of the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corp. His first year of teaching was at Mililani Middle School where he served as the orchestra and choir director. He then moved to Mililani High School in 2008 where he was responsible for co-directing the concert band, marching band, theater pit orchestra, AP music theory, and also assisted with the jazz bands and symphony orchestra.
